Due to high costs for cleaning of machinery and equipment, there are efforts to optimize the cleaning fluid consumption and cleaning time. One approach is the usage of discontinuous liquid jet cleaning. In this paper, two different types to pulsate are investigated regarding cleaning efficiency. Therefore, two food ingredients, xanthan gum and starch, are studied. As a result, especially cleaning fluid consumption could be significantly reduced. The cleaning time decreased with the xanthan gum soil, too. Whereas it was equal or higher for the starch soil.
