In this investigation, Copper (Cu)/Graphene Nanao Sheet (GNS) composites were prepared by using the powder metallurgy technique. The microstructure and the mechanical properties were studied and characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, High resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). GNS has shown a significant uniformity in dispersion with Cu is achieved through this method. The excellent enhancement in compressive stress is obtained with 0.2% GNS. It is more than 10% compare to the pure Cu. SEM studies of Cu/GNS composite shows the homogeneous distribution of GNS on the composite with good bonding. The TEM studies confirm that the sizes of the GNS are between 3-5 nm. Raman spectra and FTIR confirms the removal of oxides from graphene oxide (GO). The fabrication Cu/GNS are highly promoted through our proposed method due to its excellent mechanical property and process simplicity. (C) 2017 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
