The development of advanced rechargeable batteries significantly depends upon the advancement of nanostructured electrode materials. Nanotechnology has made considerable progress in addressing the issues of electrode materials, such as high volume changes, low electronic/ionic conductivity, and unstable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). The stabilization strategies for nanostructured materials play crucial roles in addressing the aforementioned issues and overcoming the inherent issues of nanostructured materials, such as unstable interface and low tap density. Here, the stabilization methods for nanostructured electrode materials are summarized in terms of surface engineering, composition regulation, and micro-/nanostructures. These stabilization strategies can improve the performance of advanced rechargeable batteries, indicate the fundamental principles of nanomaterial design for advanced rechargeable batteries, and provide new opportunities to tailor advanced electrode materials in electrochemical-storage devices.
