Titanium dioxide (TiO2) possesses good refractive index, band gap, and optical transmittance. In this paper the variation of nonlinear absorption coefficient (beta) of sol-gel prepared TiO2, calcined at different temperatures is studied using open aperture zscan technique and beta showed an increase with calcination temperature. Optical absorbance spectra of TiO2 nanoparticles reveals inverse variation of band gap with calcination temperature. The optical limiting thresholds calculated for the samples reveal that samples calcined at lower temperatures (anatase) phase shows more optical limiting than the samples calcined at higher temperatures (rutile phase).
