Cooling load calculation is a basic step in design and sizing of radiant systems. There is a lack of suitable cooling load calculation method for radiant systems in current standards and guidebooks. This study established a cooling load calculation model for integrated operation of radiant and fresh air systems using heat balance method. The sensible cooling load for surface-side, hydronic side of radiant terminal, as well as fresh air system cooling load can be calculated. We proposed a modified design and sizing process for radiant system using the calculated cooling loads. We also evaluated the cooling load calculation method adopted by Chinese standard on radiant systems. The results showed that the method in Chinese standard can cause the cooling load 20.6% lower.
