In this paper, we propose to study the effects of silicon nitride (Si3N4) nanoparticles on the electrical conduction of polyimide (PI) films used as insulating materials for electronics applications. By playing with a low filler content of Si3N4 (with a size of 20-40 nm), it is possible to develop important nanodielectric effects and to better control the trapping parameters. The results highlight an important decrease in the DC electrical conductivity over a large temperature range up to 350 degrees C for the PI/Si3N4 nanocomposites compared to neat PI films.
