Sewage sludge was mixed with coal and with used frying oil and then combusted in a lab. stand with a 25 kW retort furnace. The flue gases were studied for chem. compn. (CO, CO2 SOx, NOx, HCI) and for O-2 losses. The small addn. of used trying oil resulted in an increase in CO2 concn. in the exhaust gas (from 5.32 to 6.74%) and a decrease in CO content (from 319.37 to 262.03 mg/m(3)). The efficiency of the combustion processes was also increased.
