Tetrabromo (piperazinium) zincate, a new metal-organic crystal has been synthesized and its single crystal grown by slow evaporation method. The grown crystal has characterized by structural, spectral, thermal, linear and nonlinear optical properties. Single crystal X-ray diffractions study reveals that grown crystal belongs to orthorhombic crystal system with space group P2(1)2(1)2(1). The presence of functional groups is identified by FT-IR spectral analysis. Thermal stability of the crystal was ascertained by TG-DTA measurement. The second order harmonic generation efficiency was measured using Kurtz and Perry technique and it was found to be 1.5 times that of KDP.
