The Gogny D1M potential energy surfaces are used to extract the fission barrier of a large number of nuclei and to study in a systematic way the evolution of the fission barrier height depending on the proton and neutron numbers to deduce possible links with nuclear shell closures and are compared with evaluated nuclear data. The least-action paths are also computed, using Dijkstra's algorithm, and compared to the least-energy paths. Spontaneous fission half-lives are also calculated and compared with experimental data.
