Photochemical synthesis of nanoparticles is a promising alternative to harsh chemical methods. In this report, synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles by photochemical route in an aqueous solvent mixture without capping agents is reported. Formation of ZnO nanoparticles is confirmed using absorption-fluorescence, photoluminescence, Xray diffraction and small angle electron diffraction studies. Size and shape of nanoparticles is confirmed using dynamic light scattering, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Reusability of the solvent mixture and photochemical route makes this a promising method for synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles.
