Double tungstate of lithium and trivalent gadolinium ions were prepared by mean of solid state reaction, and have been studied using X-ray diffraction, Raman scattering and photoluminescence analysis. The Er3+ concentration effects on the structural and optical properties were studied. The compounds crystallize in the scheelite like structure with space group 14(1)/a, and Z = 2. Spectroscopic and structural properties of the Er3+ ions doping elements in LiGd(W0(4))2 have been determined at room temperature. Steady and time resolved photoluminescence spectroscopies of the synthesized compounds are reported. Samples exhibit intense green emission of Er3+ (S-4(3)/(2) -> I-4(15/2) and H-2(11/2) -> I-4(15/2) transitions) under 377 nm excitation wavelength and present luminescent quenching around 3 at% Er3+ concentration. The decay time decrease with increasing the Er3+ concentration. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
