This paper proposes a hierarchal PI-fuzzy-PI (PIFPI) controller for a wind farm based on the squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) to participate effectively in Primary Frequency Control (PFC) when there is an unbalance between power demand and supply. Indeed, the wind power plants have to maintain a certain level of power reserves according to the grid code requirements. The proposed approach is compared to other system control to demonstrate the benefits of the adopted controller. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
