Hybrid hydrogels based on polyacrylamide were prepared by using N,N'-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linker during radical polymerization of two component Dextran/Acrylamide system. It was found that the swelling capacity of hydrogels depends on cross-linker concentration as well as Dextran component. SEM, TGA and DSC studies of hybrid polyacryamide hydrogels were carried out to analyze its structure. Hydrogels were tested as wound dressings. Proposed hydrogels could keep proper moisture balance and a programmed acid-alkaline equilibrium on the wound surface.
