Forward-simulation analysis was performed on composition profiles collected from liquid-solid and solid-solid diffusion couples to obtain diffusion coefficients of Mg-Sn, Mg-Y, and Mg-Zn. Reliable impurity diffusion coefficient of Y in Mg is obtained for the first time, showing that Y diffusion in Mg is about the same as Sn below 390 degrees C. The first sets of interdiffusion coefficients of Mg-Sn and Mg-Y are also obtained together with wider temperature-range data for Mg-Zn.
