Carbon fiber reinforced phthalonitriles obtained by resin transfer molding have been reported for the first time. Special formulation based on silicon- and phosphorus-containing phthalonitrile monomers has been developed to yield a composite with retention of mechanical properties at 300 degrees C and remarkable flame-retardant properties (LOI > 80%).
