Two tetra-tent-butylphthalocyanine complexes of iron(III) were synthesized in high yields from the phthalocyanine ligand and iron(III) salts; the oxidation state of iron was confirmed by Mossbauer and EPR spectroscopy. The existence of an acid base equilibrium during spectrophotometric titration was revealed. The (But)PcFeC1 complex catalyzed chlorination of benzene.
