Peptide-based nanoparticles were employed to load and disperse hydrophobic porphyrins in a one-step co-assembly method in aqueous media. The isolated porphyrins doped within nanoparticles showed enhanced two-photon absorption ability and could effectively generate O-1(2) to induce the apoptosis of cancer cells, which holds great prospects in two-photon PDT.
