Eu3+ activated SrGd2O4 phosphors were synthesized by conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction method in air ambiance. The structural and thermoluminescence (TL) aspects of as-prepared phosphors were explored by XRD, FESEM, TENT and TL techniques. Orthorhombic phase formation and agglomerated ginger-like morphology of as-synthesized SrGd2O4: Eu3+ samples were unfolded by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and microscopic studies, respectively. The effect of impurity (Eu3+) contents and heating rates for the TL glow curves was also studied. The it glow curve of gamma-irradiated SrGd2O4: Eu3+ shows two well-resolved peaks at 393 K and 598 K with a shoulder at 537 K. The Linear behaviour of as formed SrGd2O4: Eu3+ samples are observed in the dose range 500 Gy-3 kGy. The different trapping parameters were calculated by employing computerized glow curve deconvolution (CGCD) methods Linear dose response, less fading and high reproducibility of SrGd2O4: Eu3+ samples broadly indicated its suitability for TL dosimetry applications.
