An ultra-thin multilayer carbon fiber reinforced composite (UTM-CFRC) with good flexibility was prepared by a two-step wet papermaking/thermal bonding technique. Its electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and tensile properties were investigated. Results indicate that the absorption coefficient of this composite is apparently higher than most available EMI shielding materials. In addition, with increasing layers, the overall EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI-SE) as well as the tensile strength increases whereas the absorption coefficient changes oppositely.
