This study was the first used to explore the characteristics of prepared phosphorene materials as a promising As(III) treatment. Investigations on monolayer and few-layer black phosphorous, which is transformed to phosphorene have grown in number in the recent years. Similar to graphene, single layer phosphorene is flexible and can be mechanically exfoliated. In this study, phosphorene catalysts were prepared by exfoliation method. Moreover, four levels of arsenic concentration, namely, 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 ppm, were tested. The morphology and elastic strain of the composites were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy. When graphene and phosphorene materials are compared, the most appropriate adsorption rate for As(III) was achieved at 0.0329 min(-1). The sorption capacity were 4.67 mg g(-1) for As(III) at pH 7.
