NH2-MIL-53(Al) nanocrystals grown from the surface of the hollow graphene microspheres were prepared by using reduced graphene oxide (RGO) wrapped polystyrene (PS) microspheres as template and then removing the PS cores in N, N-dimethylformamide (NH2-MIL-53(Al)/RGO). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy results demonstrated the NH2-MIL-53(Al) nanocrystals located at the surface of the hollow graphene microspheres. Compared to NH2-MIL-53(Al) the NH2-MIL-53(Al)/RGO showed higher photocatalytic efficiency in degradation of methylene blue under visible light. (C) 2017 Published by Elsevier B.V.
