This paper presents initial design and demonstration for an interactive drilling simulation. We have developed a new haptic feedback drill interface whose outer figure is identical to a conventional electric drill. The proposed system is designed for providing haptic responses to users such as contact response, thrust force, machinery vibration, torsional forces and the edge penetration force occurred during drilling task. In addition, interactive auditory and visual feedback are also provided together for more realistic multimodal interaction.
