LaGdxBi5-xFe2Ti3O18 polycrystalline samples with x = 0.2 and 0.4 (LGBFT) were synthesized by both solid state and sol-gel methods. X-ray structural analysis confirmed the formation of single-phase compounds with orthorhombic symmetry at room temperature. Comparative study on structural, spectroscopic and electrical properties of the samples is carried out. LaGd(x)Bi(5-)xFe(2)Ti(3)O(18) with x = 0.2 showed highest value of remnant polarization and coercive field at 1.24 mu C/cm(2)and 2.89KV/cm. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
