The article is concerned with the study of the effect of a coplanar magnetic field on the flow of liquid metal in a rectangular channel. Results of temperature fluctuation intensity measurements in the channel cross-section are given at a different magnetic field influence. To assess the influence of thermogravitational convection on the flow, two regimes were implemented: downward and upward flow with a low-valued heat flux. As a result, in the experiment it was possible to decrease the influence of natural convection and obtain a pure magnetic field influence. The obtained data were generalized as an exponential dependence of the degree turbulence suppression by the coplanar magnetic field on the regime parameters (Re, Ha).
