Teachers have public personas that often combine aspects of their personal and professional identities, but little research has analyzed how this overlap manifests in their social media activities. We analyzed profiles and tweets from K-12 teacher Twitter accounts (n = 33,184) to determine the degree to which accounts appeared to be used for personal and professional purposes. The analysis suggested that the accounts generally maintained a professional focus and disclosed limited personal information. We discuss these findings in relation to teacher identity in our current era of ubiquitous social media and consider implications for policy, practice, and research. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd.
