This study presents a novel disposable pressure sensible retractor system for preventing the overloading on brain tissue. The system works by installing the disposable pressure sensible part in the existing retractor. The pressure sensible part is constructed by a rubber bag filled with an incompressible fluid such as saline, in order to have uniform retracting pressure. The other benefits of the part includes attachability to the existing retractor, easy sterilization or disinfection, absence of electrical components, MRI compatibility, and low cost. The experimental evaluation showed the effectiveness of the system.
