In this research, thermal decomposition method was used to synthesize Bi12TiO20 nanoparticles under water-ethanolmedium, using Bi(NO3)(3)center dot 5H(2)O and Ti(OC2H5)(4) as precursors. The prepared materials were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The bismuth titanate nanoparticles revealed a good photocatalytic activitytowards methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The GCE modified bismuth titanatehas good electrochemical sensing of 4-nitrophenol by voltammetric techniques. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
