The surface of titanium electrode was electrooxidized by simple anodizing method to form a TiO2 layer on the Ti electrode surface in H2SO4 solution. Then Pt nanospheres were synthesized on the TiO2 surface by electroredution of PtCl4 in acidic medium. The prepared modified electrode was fully characterized and applied to methanol electrooxidation. In comparison with pure Pt, the deposition of Pt nanoparticles on TiO2 surface led to a significant increase in catalytic efficiency of Pt toward the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol. The poisoning of catalyst surface was investigated by electrooxidation of CO on this modified electrode, which showed a considerable reduction in CO oxidation potential. [GRAPHICS] .
