LiCoO2 has been labelled with O-17 from O-17-enriched water, and then examined via(7)Li, O-17 and Co-59 solid-state NMR at different charge states. The results reveal the atomic-level environment evolution during the phase transitions, and O-17 NMR is found to be more sensitive to the subtle structural changes.
