Ce-substituted hexagonal M-type SrCe (x) Fe12-x O-19 ferrites were prepared via a ceramic method, and their structural and magnetic properties were studied. It is found that in order to prepare the single-phase SrM ferrite, the atomic ratio of Sr/(Fe + Ce) should be 1:9.5 and the substituted amount (x) should be less than 0.04. The Ce substitution can improve the saturation magnetization to a certain degree, and both the impurities and the lattice distortion that resulted from the Ce substitution can enhance the coercivity markedly.
