Efficient ways for the design of efficient synthetic routes are demonstrated from the consideration of the crystal structure of hexagonal ferrites. The aggregation of crystal nuclei in ferrite material syntheses has also been discussed. Hexaferrites possess alternative cubic and hexagonal block crystal structures which show that the cubic structure can survive at high temperature. A number of experiments in the presence of organic reagents show that cubic ferric oxide intermediates can exist in products of the hexaferrite syntheses. Such evidence shows that inorganic ions and organic reagents can be significant factors in determining the final crystal structure of the synthesized product. These effects of inorganic ions and organic reagents have not yet attracted research attention.
