We applied high-molecular-weight di-block copolymer polyethylene glycol-polylactic acid as a new template to synthesize magnetic mesoporous silica material. The new template have advantages of a moderate molecular weight and its micelles can be regulated by pH and temperature. By using micelles to prepare magnetic mesoporous silica material, a facile micelle prepare route without inorganic salt addition were proposed. The new magnetic mesoporous silica material has medium-sized (4.7-8.5 nm) pore cavities, a high surface area (705-464 m(2) g(-1)), a large pore volume (0.38-0.82 cm(3) g(-1)), is environmentally stable and is capable of magnetic separation. Its adsorption capacity as tested using bovine serum albumin, sialic acid and quercetin as probes was efficient on macromolecules and small biological molecule compounds because of its specific pore size, which could be useful for drug carrying, separation and enrichment in biotechnological pre-analytical processes.
