Chitosan supported Zn(II) mixed ligand complexes have been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, UV -Vis, TGA, XRD, FESEM, EDX, AAS and Elemental Analysis. These complexes have been found to be efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalysts for the one-pot synthesis of amides via Beckmann rearrangement. All three complexes can be easily filtered out from the reaction medium and reused up to five times without significant loss of catalytic activity. The reported protocol is economical and novel in the sense that amides can be easily synthesized in only one-step. All products were obtained as white to off-white crystalline solids and fully characterized by H-1 NMR, FT-IR and Mass Spectra. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
