Two coordination polymers {[Cd-2(obtz)(Meip)(2)]center dot H2O}(n) (1) and {[Cd(obtz)(ndc)]center dot 0.5H(2)O}(n) (2) were synthesized and characterized (obtz =1,2-bis(1,2,4-triazole-1-ylmethyl)benzene, Meip = 5-methylisophthalate, ndc=1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylate). 1 shows a (4,5)-connected 3D network with the point symbol of (4(4).6(2)) (4(4).6(4).8(2)). 2 exhibits a (3,4)-connected 2D network with the point symbol of (3 center dot 8(2))(3(2).4 center dot 8(2).9). The luminescent properties of 1 and 2 dispersed in various kinds of solvents were investigated in detail. The quenching efficiencies of p-nitrophenol (p-NP), p-nitroaniline (p-NA), nitrobenzene (NBZ) and 1,3-dinitrobenzene (1,3-DNB) upon 1 are 90.5%, 82.5%, 16.7% and 2.3% at the concentration of 40 ppm nitroaromatics analysts, and upon 2 are 95.0%, 60.5%, 9.0% and 16.0% at the concentration of 60 ppm nitroaromatics analysts, respectively. 1 and 2 display high sensitivity in the detection of nitroaromatics, especially for p-nitrophenol and p-nitroaniline.
