Porous-C3N4 with high photocatalytic activity of anionic dyes was successfully synthesized by a SiO2-template method. Its photocatalytic selectivity could easily be switched to cationic dye via a simple post-treatment in NaOH solution. Through careful investigation of influencing parameters (the photocatalytic performances, the structure and surface characteristics of the catalysts), the selective degradation of various dyes is closely related to the adsorption selectivity of the porous g-C3N4 catalysts, which originated from the different surface charge. This study provides a new insight into developing metal-free g-C3N4 photocatalyst with high efficiency and selectivity in environmental purification.
