A series of novel arylazothiazole derivatives were synthesized in good yield via coupling of thiazole derivatives with arenediazonium chloride in ethanol in the presence of sodium acetate trihydrate at 0-5 degrees C. The structures of the newly synthesized products were elucidated via elemental analysis, spectral data, and alternative routes whenever possible. Moreover, the antidermatophtic activity screening of the products was evaluated, and the results revealed that compounds 7a, 7b, 7c, 7f, 7g, and 7i showed broad potency and induced more inhibition against the tested fungi compared to fluconazole as antifungal standard drug.
