This study clarifies the stimulus wave forms suitable for elbow joint flexion in surface functional electrical stimulation (sFES) using a biphasic rectangular stimulation wave that is amplitude-burst-modulated. We test and evaluate several stimulation waves with different profiles (frequencies) of the carrier and modulating waves (duty ratio, etc.) for exerted torque in elbow flexion.
