In this study copper foam electrodes were synthesized galvanostatically at different current densities from an acidic electrolyte using hydrogen bubble evolution as a dynamic template. The copper electrodes were characterized in different electrolites in acetonitrile by cyclic and ac voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and SEM. It was found that the voltammetric profile of those electrodes is very sensitive to their synthesis conditions, the amount of water and the hydrophobicity of the ions present in the electrochemical cell. Finally, their morphology and electrochemical impedance spectra are similar to those reported for mesoporous electrodes.
