Fall drop impact test for closed-cell aluminum foams were conducted experimentally and numerically. Deformation mechanisms at the cell level were discussed. The deformation mechanisms of cells were investigated and a novel FE model was proposed. Our model is combination of cellular part in the middle and solid part with the mechanical property of the same foam to adopt boundary condition correctly in order to reduce run time.
