Mixed transition metal oxides are promising materials and could provide synergic electrochemical properties for water splitting application. In present study, nanostructured NiO/PdO particles were synthesized using the greener synthesis approach. The phase purity and composition of prepared NiO/PdO was confirmed by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscope coupled energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) which confirmed the elemental composition of synthesized material. The calculated band gap value using Tauc equation was 2.2 eV. Moreover, the as synthesized material was tested as nanocatalyst which proclaimed significant electrochemical response with an over potential (O.P) of 376 mV and 108 mV for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction (OER, HER), respectively. Thus on the basis of present electrochemical scrutinization, it was proposed that NiO/PdO based mixed oxides could be used as efficient electro-catalyst for water splitting studies.
