Nanomaterials with tuned luminescence are largely approved for their promising performance in near UV-excited white LEDs (light emitting diodes). This work thus, reports a series of new progressive BaLaAlO4: Sm3+ based nanomaterials with wide color gamut, developed via urea combustion. Phase purity was disclosed by X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement. Emission spectra marked an extraordianry peak at 600 nm. 3.0 mol% was inspected an ideal amount of Sm3+, beyond which electric multipolar interactions led to concentration quenching. Color coordinates justified yellow to reddish orange tuned luminescence, which proved their promising materiality in the solid state illuminants i.e., lasers and WLEDs.
