Pterocephanoside (1), a novel iridoid glucoside derivative with three glucosides and an aromatic ring, were isolated from Pterocephalus hookeri, along with eight known compounds (2-9). The structure of the new compound was elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Compounds 1, 2, 5 and 6 were evaluated for their cytotoxicity.
