This paper presents a stacked microstrip antenna with multiple resonance frequencies, the antenna is implemented by introducing slots on the radiating patches and the ground plane. The proposed antenna is used to sense the deposition of elemental sulfur. The sulfur-deposited is considered as a superstrate to the microstrip antenna. The superstrate will cause the antenna reflection coefficient to change, and the resonant frequency to be shifted. By analyzing these changes in the antenna resonance behavior, the presence of sulfur deposition can be identified. HFSS software is used to optimize the antenna design for optimum response.
