Measuring Populism in Political Parties: Appraisal of a New Approach

Summary: This article discusses different methods for measuring populism in European political parties and proposes using expert surveys to operationalize and measure populism in parties. The research shows that populism is best measured in a multidimensional and continuous manner, and illustrates the advantages of this approach for empirical analysis in political science.
