Do Quarantine Experiences and Attitudes Towards COVID-19 Affect the Distribution of Mental Health in China? A Quantile Regression Analysis

Summary: The study found that home self-quarantine is associated with increased happiness and decreased depression, while community-level quarantine is associated with decreased happiness, especially for those with lower levels of happiness. Favorable attitudes towards COVID-19, such as confidence in epidemic control, are related to lower levels of depression and higher levels of happiness. These effects are stronger in the upper quantile of depression and the median quantile of happiness.

Summary: The findings suggest that while many stakeholders view life skills as important for adolescents, they also perceive a lack of sufficient life skills education in the school curriculum, and believe that adolescent life skills development is incomplete. Compared to teachers and parents, adolescents in Hong Kong have higher levels of confidence in their own and their peers' life skills.
