Summary: Candida auris, an emerging species responsible for life-threatening infections, has shown resistance to most antifungal drugs and persistence in hospital environments. This study explored interactions between C. auris and two free-living amoeba species, demonstrating that the amoebas can promote yeast survival and proliferation while also internalizing viable C. auris. This suggests that a water environmental reservoir of C. auris may be considered through free-living amoebas, potentially leading to contamination of hospital water networks.
