High-quality Illumina assemblies were produced from 284 strains of Xanthomonas citri pv. citri pathotype A, mainly from the Southwest Indian Ocean region, with some strains also sequenced using MinION technology. It was found that some strains of this bacterium hosted chromosomally encoded transcription activator-like effector (TALE) genes, which is an atypical feature.
