Distribution, source identification, ecological and health risks of heavy metals in surface sediments of the Rupsa River, Bangladesh

Ram Proshad et al.

Summary: This study assessed the pollution level and health risk of heavy metals in sediments of the Rupsa River in Bangladesh, revealing that most samples were heavily contaminated by Cd and exhibited moderate to serious toxicity. The sediments showed low to very high potential ecological risk. Heavy metal contamination in the riverine aquatic environment warrants comprehensive risk assessment.
