This essay delves into the relationship between Lope's dramaturgy and Giraldi Cinzio's short novels, focusing on the comedy "El favor agradecido" and novella II, 1 from "Gli Ecatommiti". The study aims to demonstrate how operational mechanisms transform and alter novelistic material, potentially being justified by adherence to a specific dramaturgical pattern.
In this essay we will address the relationship between Lope's dramaturgy and Giraldi Cinzio's short novels, by focusing especially on El favor agradecido, a comedy belonging to Lope's earlier repertoire, and novella II, 1 from Gli Ecatommiti. The purpose is to examine the operational mechanisms that transform and alter the novelistic material. The article aims to demonstrate that these variations could be justified by the adherence to a specific dramaturgical pattern.
