Nanodiamond seeding on plasma-treated tantalum thin films and the role of surface contamination

P. Pobedinskas et al.

Summary: By exposing tantalum thin films to different gas discharge plasmas, the surface wetting properties can be altered, and ultra-dispersed nanodiamond particles can be seeded using water-based colloidal seeding. The electrostatic interaction between the tantalum surface and the nanodiamond particles is the primary factor affecting the success of seeding, while the surface wetting properties play a lesser role in the process.

Thermal stress modelling of diamond on GaN/III-Nitride membranes

Jerome A. Cuenca et al.

Summary: The study investigates the thermal stresses induced by diamond directly deposited onto III-nitride (III-N) heterostructure membranes, using analytical methods, numerical models, and experimental validation. It is found that the thermal stresses are mainly caused by the mismatch in coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), and can be reduced by pre-stressing the membrane.
